Welcome!

Thanks for visiting my site! My name is Joel Glanfield and I am a PhD student in the Faculty of Computer Science at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I am being be co-supervised by Dr. Stephen Brooks and Dr. John McHugh. Dr. Brooks is an expert in the field of data visualization, while Dr. McHugh holds a Canada Research Chair in Privacy and Security. My studies will focus on developing new and creative techniques for visualizing network traffic in an intuitive manner. I am grateful for generous funding provided by both NSERC and my supervisors. Our work is mainly funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. A recent newspaper article can be found here.

The purpose of my website is to inform readers as to the nature of the projects I am working on (and have worked on). Visit my Projects page for more details. A copy of my CV is available in .pdf format here.

On a more casual note, my personal interests include composing music with Propellerheads' Reason 4.0 (and torturing anyone who is adventurous enough to listen!), spending time with family, most especially my wife Heidi and my German Shepherd, Princess.
